We hope that you and your families are safe and well as we, hopefully, start pulling out of this crisis in the coming weeks. Here at BoxVn HQ it’s been business as (almost) usual and so we wanted to reach out and share with you what we’ve been up to these past couple of months. There’s certainly been no time for sitting around – unless that’s in the seat of a delivery vehicle of course!
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, BoxVn has joined forces with two charities – Guru Maneyo Granth Gurdwara Educational Trust, and We C U 2020. BoxVn vehicles and drivers have been busy delivering care packages and PPE in support of WE C U’s collaboration with The Sun Newspaper – an initiative that has seen generous pledges from many high profile brands to help protect the health and wellbeing of our national healthcare heros across 25 hospitals in the South East. Vehicles and drivers provided to GMGG are helping to deliver over 20000 meals per week to the elderly, vulnerable and NHS staff across the South East. And we’re always on the look out for new opportunities where we can offer our support!
Opportunity for Growth
Over the past 2 months, Courier companies have seen a huge increase in residential deliveries as customers move to online shopping during the COVID-19 pandemic. While businesses serving B2B deliveries have been hard hit, those with significant B2C exposure, have seen exponential growth. At BoxVn, we have experienced a peak much earlier in the year than usual. Under normal circumstances, we would expect to experience a dip in February followed by small growth until June when we would expect to hit peak, increasing steadily until December. Carriers reporting increased volumes due to B2C growth include Amazon, DHL, Hermes and DPD. Amazon is apparently experiencing a mini-peak as it gains overall retail share, building on its Q1 growth of 26%. DHL reported domestic parcels growth in Germany from the last two weeks of March. It is currently operating at similar levels to pre-Christmas peak at over 8 million parcels per day, compared to average levels of 5.2 million. Similarly, Hermes UK recently stated that it was handling ‘exceptionally high’ volumes. DPD UK is now delivering significant additional parcels as a result of the pandemic. This includes 60,000 donations to hospitals and 200,000 Morrisons food boxes per week.
A future with Amazon
BoxVn have been progressing in their discussion with Amazon Logistics and are undertaking a full audit to ensure continual Amazon compliance. This compliance will firstly cement our partnership directly with Amazon and secondly negate the audit requirement for BoxVn vehicles already supplied to Amazon Delivery Service Partner network. We hope to be sharing the good news with you in a future update
A listing update
In February we communicated that we had signed heads of terms for reversal into a shell company, the team are making fantastic progress and we are pleased to inform you that we are very very close to closing this. We will be in touch with further updates as the situation continues to unfold.
